If you have thick, coarse hair like myself,
you know what a challenge it can be to maintain.
I wanted to dedicate a post to my favorite products I've found to tame unruly hair.
Straight to the point.
Best flat iron: GHD
Retailing for $225, it's worth every bang of your buck.
Each flat iron comes with a warranty, but I've found them to last a good 5+ years.
Not to mention, I've never paid over $125, as they can be found on Amazon and other online retail sites for less than the original price.
It heats up within 30 seconds, and keeps my hair feeling healthy and soft. Typically flat irons make my hair feel damaged over time, but I swear this one keeps it in mint condition! It actually feels healthier after use.
Also, you can expect to drastically cut down your style time. I can completely straighten my hair under 6 minutes, which says something to those with long, coarse hair.
Best product: John Frieda 3-Day Straight spray
Simply spray a bit of this onto wet hair, then gently blow dry. It's almost as if you won't need a flat iron in the first place!
It will reduce prep time even further, and definitely aids in keeping hair straight for at least 2 days.
Waves for Days.
Best tool: Hot Shot Tools Deep Barrel Waver
This thing is amazing for creating those sexy beach waves. With heat settings reaching 430 degrees, you're guaranteed the wave you need! I've bought them for all of my girlfriends, and they're a total hit. It's perfect for those roll-out-of-bed-head kind of days, just wave a few pieces to pull your look together. It works best on slightly dirty hair, giving me all the more reason to love this tool. For those "oh, shit- I should shower, I'm greasy" days, this is the ultimate quick fix.
I can't live without my waver!
[Me with my barrel waved hair.]
Oh god, this is the area I need the most help with- Hair repair. I've put my locks through so many color changes and overall damage, it's hard to find the perfect product for rejuvenation.
Best conditioner: Aussie 3 Minute Miracle
Save your money!
This stuff is cheap!
I've been victim of countless deep conditioners costing 3 times the price of this, none of which provided as good of a result as 3 Minute Miracle. I like to leave it in for 20 minutes sometimes, providing the ultimate luxury mask for my hair. Soft, silky, smooth...Need I say more?
Best product: Miracle 7 Leave in Mist
This stuff is awesome when working with thick hair. I apply it prior to blow drying, as it feels like an "extra" conditioner. It leaves your hair super soft for days.
Slick and Sleek.
Best serum: Organix Repairing Dry Oil
I just love how serious this serum is, without that heavy weight of your typical serum. It's lightweight formula will have your hair soft, smooth, and tame those unruly fly-aways without weighing your hair down. I also like that it's not greasy, as it has a dry finish. Serum perfection!
There you have some of my hair care favorites,
what are some of yours?
